ULTRA RUNNING

There are those experiences measured not by hours, days, meters or miles, but by the layers of soul stripped away until only the will remains.  That is why I run ultras.

A NOTE FROM PHIL

It’s race season, and I am 1/3 of the way through my third Triple Crown of 200s.  At age 55.  Plus I have two jobs.  Plus I do all the map work for the races.  So, this content is getting started.  Be patient.

If you’re not, then you don’t know much about ultrarunning.  You will learn.

GET LOST! OR DON’T.  YOUR CHOICE.

How often have you heard someone complain at an ultra finish that they got “bonus miles” and would have finished in xx hours if they had stayed on course?  Well, not getting lost is part of the challenge in ultras, and coulda shoulda woulda really doesn’t cut it.  Here I will (try) to get you squared away on gear and techniques to avoid that sick feeling when the flagging stops but the trail keeps on going.
